Acknowledging the Worst-Case Scenario Takes the Fear Away

I love asking myself the question, “What’s the worst thing that could happen?” It helps me quiet the intense conversation and debate that goes on in my mind to rest. (Oh, I should preface that this question is NOT great if you are deciding to skydive or watch your child do something foolish)That said, this is a great question to ask yourself when you are setting a stretch goal, trying something new, or if allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Failure may happen, and it’s not the worst thing that can happen.

Ask yourself:

What’s the worst thing that could happen?

Then ask yourself:

Would I be homeless, physically hurt, alone, or financially crippled? If yes, investigate more and don’t make any decisions yet.

Ok, now that all the big stuff is out of the way, ask yourself:

What excuses are holding me back from my stretch goal? Write them down and spend time investigating each one.

Give it a try! You might surprise yourself. If you want to talk more about goals, reach out, and let’s see how we can best work together.
